Where To Spend Your Advertising Dollar

In today's world, it can be difficult to know where to spend money on advertising, and where not to.. In the old days, you put an ad in the paper or ran an ad on the radio. Later, you may run a television commercial. But with the invention of the World Wide Web, there is now no correct answer. For most businesses this can make advertising very difficult.
As company owners focus on where to advertise, they can sometimes take the advice of friends or family who own businesses. If you run the exact same type of business, this information may be useful. If you don't, you may be mislead.
I have seen many times where someone tells an owner they have had great success on Twitter or LinkedIn, but it not work for someone else. Basically, not all internet options work for all companies. Most businesses do well on Facebook and the ads do reach a multitude of the public. But some companies don't work well there. For instance, if you don't have a product to sell and cannot show something to a prospective customer, it can be hard. Facebook and Instagram work well if you have a pretty picture of something. If you own a lawn care service or dry cleaners, not so much.
The best thing you can do for yourself is do your research. Look at other companies that are in your industry. Where are they advertising? Is it working? How often are they on social media and which outlet are they using? Gathering this information will save you lots of time, money and headache.
The world is changing. We have to keep up. If we don't, we will get lost in the shuffle of companies that are not reaching the sales goals they want to obtain this year. Make sure your dollar goes as far as it can. It's more important now than ever.
